Today, we are opening this space for the first time.
The TomaNote Blog was created to share everything happening around the project, but also to talk about something broader: how we write, how we organize our ideas, and how we use technology to do it in a simpler way.
Here, you will find news, new versions, and updates to TomaNote, as well as tips for taking and organizing notes, resources about Markdown and digital writing, articles about productivity, privacy, accessibility, and some stories about what happens behind the scenes while building the project.
The idea is simple: create useful content, even for people who do not use TomaNote yet.
What is TomaNote?
TomaNote is a web application for taking notes, built around a simple idea: open it and start writing.
You do not need to create an account or register to use it. Your notes remain stored locally in your browser, and the application is designed to keep working even when you are offline.
TomaNote aims to be a lightweight and straightforward tool, without trying to become a massive platform filled with features you may never need.
Some of its features include:
- Offline-first: you can keep using the application offline after the first load.
- Privacy by design: your notes are stored locally in your browser.
- Tabs: organize and switch between different notes quickly.
- Customization: adapt the appearance and editor to the way you work.
- PWA: you can install TomaNote as an application.

But TomaNote does not try to do everything.
The idea is to do one thing well: provide a simple space for writing and working with your notes.
What will you find here?
This blog will be a natural extension of TomaNote, but it will not simply be a place to announce new versions.

Every new version is an opportunity to explain what has changed and, when it makes sense, why.
We will share new features, improvements, fixes, and the evolution of the project without reducing everything to a simple technical changelog.

Taking notes may seem simple, but we all develop different ways of capturing ideas, organizing information, and finding it again when we need it.
Here, we will explore methods, tips, and small ideas for working better with our notes, without turning productivity into yet another task.

Privacy is part of TomaNote's philosophy.
We will talk about local storage, offline-first applications, digital privacy, and some of the decisions behind tools that aim to request less information and depend less on external services.
We will also talk about their limitations, because protecting privacy does not mean making impossible promises.

We do not believe being productive means filling every minute of the day with tasks, metrics, and increasingly complicated systems.
We will share ideas and tools that can help you work, stay organized, and write with less friction.
Sometimes, doing less is an improvement too.

In this section, we will share part of that journey: design decisions, UX, accessibility, performance, architecture, development, and the lessons we learn as TomaNote evolves.

Although this is the official TomaNote Blog, we do not want every article to end by trying to convince you to use the application.
Our goal is for you to find something useful here, regardless of which tools you use.
If you later discover that TomaNote fits the way you work, great.
And if it does not, we still hope you take away an idea, a useful tip, or a different way of thinking about the tools we use every day.

This is the first article on the TomaNote Blog.
From here, we will be sharing updates, guides, ideas, experiments, and some of the decisions — both good and not so good — that come with trying to build a simple tool.
We want to keep this space just like the project that inspires it: clear, useful, and without adding complexity just for the sake of it.
